Louisiana Continuing Education Requirements: Continuing education obligations in Louisiana apply specifically to residential building contractors, who must complete at least 6 hours of CE annually through a board-approved provider. This requirement is automatically satisfied if the residential contractor also carries a current, valid commercial license under any of these major classifications: 1) Building Construction; 2) Highway, Street and Bridge Construction; 3) Heavy Construction; or 4) Municipal and Public Works Construction.
Commercial contractors, mold remediation professionals, and home improvement registrants/contractors are not subject to any continuing education requirement.
Renewal Process: A first-time license certificate is valid for one year. After that, renewal periods can be extended to one, two, or three years at a time. Renewals must be submitted online no later than December 31 each year.
Questions about your state’s continuing education requirements should be directed to your state board.
