Maryland Continuing Education Requirement: Under Business Occupations and Professions Article §6-310(c)(3) of the Annotated Code of Maryland, license renewal requires applicants to have completed specific CE hours during their prior license term:

• Master license renewal requires 10 hours of qualifying CE, with at least 5 of those hours completed in a physical classroom
• Journeyperson license renewal requires 5 hours of qualifying CE

Note that local licensing laws are subject to change, so check with your local board for the latest requirements. Under the Maryland Electricians Act, individuals must hold a state apprentice, journeyperson, or master electrician license to perform, offer, or assist with electrical work.

License Renewal: Maryland electrician licenses remain valid for two years from their issue date. Renewal dates are currently staggered rather than falling on a single fixed date.
