Mike Holt Enterprises Approved Provider #389
Massachusetts Continuing Education Requirement: Licensees must complete 21 clock hours of CE every 3 years. Of that total, 15 hours must focus on the Massachusetts Electrical Code specifically, while the remaining 6 hours can be chosen freely for professional development — covering topics like the NEC, business practices, law, safety, or building code.
If a licensee fails to complete the full 21 hours by their renewal deadline, they must make up the shortfall by completing an extra 21-hour course for every renewal cycle they fell behind in.
License Renewal: Massachusetts electrical licenses expire every 3 years on July 31st, with renewal notices going out 6 weeks before that deadline. Renewals are processed through the state’s ePlace portal here.
Questions about your state’s CE requirements should be directed to your state board.
