Continuing Education Requirement (Effective 1/1/2026):

  • Electrical Journeyman/Electrical Contractors must log 12 CE hours every 3 years (36 months) leading up to license/registration expiration. No more than 6 of those hours can come from Code Update courses (approval codes ending in “-E”); the remaining 6 must be code-related courses with approvals ending in “-EO.”
  • Electrical Apprentices must complete 3 CE hours annually to re-register. This material should cover code adoptions and revisions from the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission, state electrical industry regulations, Construction Industries Board rules, and “electrical safety” per NFPA 70E — plus other Committee-approved trade topics or contractor/journeyman-level CE. Student apprentices or those currently enrolled in an approved course are exempt from this requirement.

License Renewal: No license is issued for more than 1 year, and all licenses expire on the last day of the holder’s birth month. Renewal applications and fees can be submitted up to 30 days before or after the due date.

As mandated by Oklahoma, your completed CE hours are reported to the state automatically on our end, with submissions processed each Thursday.

Questions about your state’s continuing education requirements should be directed to your state board.
