Continuing Education Requirement: Journeyman and master electricians in Vermont need 15 hours of Code update training within the preceding 36-month period, plus completion of the state’s Energy Goals education module — see Vermont Energy Module Information. All prior NEC cycle’s 15-hour updates must be completed before taking a course based on the newest published code.
Note: Type-S journeyman license holders also need 8 hours of board-approved instruction specific to their specialty within the preceding 36 months — though holding multiple type-S licenses never raises the total requirement above 15 hours in that period.
License Renewal: Licenses expire on the last day of a board-designated month and must be renewed every 3 years by that expiration date.
Questions about your state’s continuing education requirements should be directed to your state board.
